Hi, I'm Tim.
I was raised in Taipei and I'm based in the Bay Area now. I work in tech, and at some point I noticed that everything I build on my own time is secretly the same project: I keep trying to figure out why people do what they do. Why we fall in love, form tribes, get jealous, want status, feel lonely.
Psychology books could tell me what we do. I wanted to know why. So instead of reading another one, I started building — a game about hunter-gatherers 20,000 years ago, a to-do app for the tasks we can't face, a site that reads historical figures through MBTI. Eight things so far. They look unrelated until you notice they're all the same question wearing different clothes.
Five shorts a week is the goal now (or, at least, the attempt) — each one chasing one of those questions. This site is where the shorts and the apps meet. Funny thing about the name: my personal site began life as "Timmotional" years ago — a place to process and feel — before it grew into something quieter. The name came back around. Apparently so did I.
